Navy glitter Nails tutorial! | Using Barry M 'Navy' and 'Rose Quartz'

Evening everyone! I thought I would squeeze in a quick little postie this evening and I decided to show you my current nails and exactly how I got them like this. I use the Barry M nail paints about 95% of the time purely because they are really great value for money, £2.99! Also because they are really amazing quality, and have the best selection of shades and effects and all sorts! If you haven't checked it out already I highly suggest you check them out here!

LINK FOR EXACT NAVY HERE
LINK FOR EXACT ROSE QUARTZ HERE
LINK FOR EXACT BASE/TOP COAT HERE

SO you will need the following...

So now that you know what you need we can get started!

STEP 1: PAINT YOUR NAILS WITH THE CLEAR BASE COAT
This step is really quick and simple, you don't have to be too perfect you just do a quick coat to protect your nails and to stop any colour staining the nails. The best thing about this base coat by Barry M is that it dries super quickly (like 30 seconds to 1 minute!). So once you've done that to both sides you can carry on to the next step!

STEP 2: PAINT ALL YOUR NAILS NAVY
So this next step is super important.  Paint your nails all over with an even coat of navy. I found that a couple of nice coats of this Barry M polish did the job well. Wait for this to dry before you  move on, it should be completely dry so that when you move onto the next step it doesn't smudge.

STEP 3: APPLY A THIN COAT OF AMETHYST GLITTER.
So this is the step where your nails really get some shebang. The trick here is not to apply too much or too thick because it will kill the look, go for a nice thin, even layer with the Amethyst glitter. This takes the longest to dry so I recommend you leave this 5 minutes before applying a top coat, then your done!
And that is it! The end result  is these really cool, almost galaxy style nails which reflect the light amazingly and they honestly look so cool! The amount of compliments I've had because of these nails, it is most certainly my current favorite nail look.
And that is it for today guys! If you enjoyed this postie do give it a cheeky little comment as I love to hear from you guys, thanks for reading and don;t forget to subscribe if you liked this post to hear from me more often! See you all very soon! Love Annie :-)

Barry M Glitter Nail Polishes | Review

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you are all enjoying your week so far, I am here with a nail specialty GLITTER! Glitter nail polishes are really fun and girly and look great for special events, and my curiosity finally got the best of me the other day in Superdrug and I purchased two glitter nail polishes by Barry M. Now I am a MASSIVE fan of Barry M, especially their nail paints and so I was expecting the standard Barry M quality, although I've never bought or used glitter nail polishes before so I had no idea what to expect.

SO I purchased two different shades, the 349 Rose Quartz which is a pinky/silvery shade and then the 354 Amethyst which is a purpley/bluey shade.

BUY HERE                  BUY HERE

Here are some quick paper swatches of the two... You'll immediately notice that the Amethyst is far more pigmented and glittery than the rose quartz, this is also evident when you use the two.

SO I will begin with the 354 Amethyst...

Before applying I used a base coat also by Barry M, I highly recommend it and for only £2.99 you can't go wrong. Link here. This just protects your nails and stops them from getting stained.

This is a first coat of the Amethyst Glitter, I have to say I was very impressed with the coverage of glitter considering it was only one coat.

Here is the second coat and as you can see I am pretty much done here just need a bit of a tidy up. It's pretty impressive that only 2 coats were needed to get a full glitter coverage.

And this is the finished look. I LOVE the colour it's really classy and special it would look great for an occasion.

Moooving onwards to Rose Quartz...

So after applying another base coat I went straight to applying a first coat. As you can see the glitter doesn't have as good of a coverage as the Amethyst glitter, but that's nothing a good couple of layers can't handle. The trick is to apply lots of thin even layers.

5 layers later... and this is the finished work. Overall it did take longer to dry because of the extra layers but once dried it did look beautiful and girly and pinky great for prom or a date.

COMPARISON...

If I had to choose a favorite I think I would choose the bluey-Amethyst glitter. Both are really cool and pretty though and I would highly recommend both, I want to go out and buy all the rest now! And for £2.99 each you can't hate them. Overall I LOVE these just like I love Barry M's other nail paints.

And that's it for today guys! I do hope you've enjoyed this post, if you did do give it a cheeky little comment I always love and value your opinions, thank you for reading and thank you for all you lovely subscribers I love you all. Love Annie :-)xxx

Manicure Monday - Jack Wills Nails...

Good morning everyone! I hope you have all thoroughly enjoyed your weekend, I don't know about you but in Wales (for once!), the sun has has been out and I even got a tan which is pretty shockers coming from windy wet Wales! I thought as it's a Monday and tradition has it that I do a Monday manicure, so as my previous Jack Wills themed post proved so popular, I would treat us all with a second dose of Wills and share with you how to paint your nails Jack Wills style!;-)

Here is a step by step guide of how I achieved this look, enjoy!:-)

You will need in total 3-4 varnishes (depending if your base and top coats are the same). I cannot recommend Barry M's original nail paints enough they are perfect especially for nail art, these colours are pretty much exactly the same as the Wills stripes which is perfect! I have to admit when I bought the navy I was a bit speculative because it doesn't look too attractive shall I say, but on the nails it's like a complete transformation it's beautiful I'm so glad I didn't doubt Barry M! They each cost £2.99 and I always buy mine from Superdrug:

The first step is to apply a base coat, this is just to protect your nails a bit and to stop the colours from staining your nails because trust me it is horrid when that happens. Trust me!

This next step is probably most tricky, applying the stripes. I would highly recommend using them white
straight stickers you get from french manicure kits (if you have any) I for one lost mine and therefore had to paint them very carefully, if you think that's hard you should try with your left hand!

The next step is to fill in the stripes with the navy, this isn't too difficult because the navy is quite pigmented and vibrant. I would say the lines should be about the barry m brush size wide, you don't want them too thin or thick a could couple of millimetres.

This step just basically involves checking over the nails and going over some of the more faded bits, I found that some of the pink stripes needed re-doing so this is the opportunity to have nail OCD.

And then finally you just want to apply to nice glossy top coat to seal the deal and to give the nails a nice professional finish.

And then the final step is just to enjoy the manicure. This manicure is super cool, trendy and super relevant especially if you're a MASSIVE Jack Wills fan like me. And that's it for today's post. I do hope you have enjoyed this post, if you have why don't you give it a cheeky little comment or a share OR you could do both of them and then put the icing on the cake by SUBSCRIBING to toadroadfashion! If you have allready I just want to say thank you soooo much you're all absolutely amazing, I love you all, love Annie :-) xxx

Manicure Monday, blueberry polka dots...

Good morning everyone! I'm on study leave yaaaayy! As I have nothing to study for this morning (weird I know blame the school not me) I thought I would get my post in early and share with you my Monday manicure - blueberry polka dots:

Polka dots are soo cute, you may have guessed their my favourite, and so when I bought blueberry ice cream by Barry M in superdrug the other day, I just couldn't resist trying some polka dots. And it worked! This is exactly how I got this look...

Firstly these are the two exact shades I used:

Both by Barry M, I LOVE Barry M SOO much their one of my favourite make-up brands they are just so young and fun and vibrant I want like every single one of their nail paints, that's the dream anyways. You can buy these from Superdrug for £2.99 each:

Then the rest is pretty simples...

Oh I lied, I totally forgot you will also need a base coat if you wish, mine is also Barry M (shocker!) and I love this base coat so much, it stops the colour from staining my nails some vile colour that makes me look like an ogre. I just applied a quick base on all my nails like so.

The next step is to apply the Blueberry Ice Cream. Can I just say I only needed one coat of this varnish, it is such a beautiful colour and it's so bright, this was just the first coat and it looked absolutely amazing I was so pleased I picked it up.

Then you just need to wait for it to dry, this is what I love so much about the Barry M nail paints they dry soo quickly, like under a minute and their completely dry, you don't have to sit there waving around your hands like a loon!

The next step is to apply the white polka dots, you can use a dotting tool but I just use the brush that comes with it because their lovely and narrow and perfect for dotting! Make sure to try and even them out so they look professhh... I know it's hard believe me!

The next and probably final step of painting is to apply a nice glossy top coat to even it all out and protect them. I just used the Barry M base coat because it also acts as a top coat, handy! Make sure that you cover the whole nails and don't miss the sides.

The final step is just to inspect and admire and prepare yourself for the lovely comments and comments people give you, people always comment on how lovely my nails look when their polka dot, it's really nice!

And that's it for today everyone! I do hope you have enjoyed this post, if so do give it a little comment or you could even subscribe and listen to me on a more regular basis!;-) Whatever you do have a good day, thank you for reading, I love you all :-) Love Annie xxx

May 2013 Favourties...

Afternoon everyone I hope you have had a lovely Bank Holiday, I know that it is 'Manicure Monday' but I thought that I would give it a miss this week to share with you my favourites for May 2013. I have never done this before and so it's pretty exciting! I hope you all enjoy my favourite things of May 2013.

So here are my 9 favourite items of May 2013:

The first product is an Impulse Body Spray and this one is 'True Love'. A fun fact for you here - I can't actually smell, I don't have the sense of smell ever since I was a child and so I have to force my friends and family to smell all my perfumes and body sprays before I use them. My friend bought me this one because it was in the new range of impulse fragrances and apparently it smells divine, everyone compliments my smell after I've used it.  On the back it says 'Here is a fragrance as rare and as magical as true  love itself. A scent created to stir the soul, overwhelm the heart and turn men into lovebirds' raunchy;-). It's main notes are Freesia and Tangerine.

My next favourite...

Here is a cute little lip roll on with a difference. It is definitely unusual because unlike other lip  treatments this is more of an oil, it is not in the slightest buttery. I want to do a more in depth review of this product in the days to come but for now I wanted to tell you that although it's unusual it's very effective and it is one of my favourite lip treatments ever.

My next favourite...

Here is a backcombing brush from PRIMARK for £1! It is so cheap and it's really really really good. I have never been one for major backcombing but I bought it anyway for the fun and it has not let me down. The end of the brush is supper narrow too which is perfect for parting and separating the hair. I just love it.

My next favorite is...

This next product is probably my favorite Kohl Eyeliner pencil so far it's just so usable and versatile. I have this pencil in black and brown and I love both I will certainly to a more in depth review of this soon it deserves it. They are easy to sharpen and last long too.

My next favorite is...

I would like to apologize for this awful photograph, this is the last time I photograph on wood. This is Barry M's Strawberry Ice Cream and it is just delicious. I did a spotty nails tutorial with this and it is just such a beautiful colour I suggest this to everyone, I want to go out and buy another one before my one runs out!

The next favorite is...
This is a serum by Frizz Ease, John Frieda and it has been my glowing orange bottle of wonder this month. My hair is naturally quite frizzy and applying this to damp hair really tames it down. It is quite oily and only a little is needed but once you get the application right it's perfect. It is also an amazing heat defence and I apply it to my ends before I straighten my hair and I get full protection plus the style stays in for longer, I was a very happy bunny!

My next favorite is...

Rimmel's Stay Matte Powder. I have already done an in depth review of this powder as I love it sooo much, I use this daily instead of a liquid foundation and it's just my dream powder it's wonderful.

My next favourite is..

These are just some average face wipes, I go through wipes like toilet paper and so these wipes are really cost efficient as they are 2 for a £1 in poundland, WOW! They don't  test on animals which is amazing and they do their job well and apparently don't smell too bad so altogether happy chappy.

Last but not least...

My yearbook! Because most of you may know I am in year eleven and I am leaving high school next month for good, (until 6th form at least). We've been given our year books and it's so lovely to write to your friends and classmates about the last five years and actually say goodbye to some of them too. I will keep my yearbook forever I love it to pieces and it is my favourite thing of May 2013.

And that's it my favourites, what do you think? Let me know by giving a cheeky little comment, your comments do really make my day. As always thank you for reading , don't forget to subscribe, I love you all, bye, love Annie :-) xx

What are your May 2013 favourites?
